- Prasco will market the Authorized Generic versions of URSO Forte® Scored and URSO 250® (ursodeoxycholic acid, UDCA)

CINCINNATI; July 2, 2009 — Prasco Laboratories, a privately held pharmaceutical company located in Cincinnati, Ohio, announced today it has entered into a distribution and supply agreement with Axcan Pharma US, Inc. for Authorized Generic versions of URSO 250® and URSO Forte® Scored (ursodiol tablets, USP) family of products.  Prasco intends to market, in the U.S., the Authorized Generic version of URSO Forte Scored and URSO 250.  Prasco intends to launch immediately.

“We are pleased to provide Ursodiol Tablets 250mg and 500mg to pharmacists and consumers,” said Prasco Chief Executive Officer E. Thomas Arington.  “As a Prasco Authorized Generic, Ursodiol Tablets will provide patients with the identical experience as the brand product.”

Ursodiol Tablets 500mg and Ursodiol Tablets 250mg are AB-rated, therapeutically equivalent and substitutable for the brand URSO Forte Scored and URSO 250 respectively. URSO 250 and URSO Forte Scored are approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of patients with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), a chronic liver disease that slowly destroys the ducts that drain bile in the liver.1
