CINCINNATI, OH; 8/20/12 — Prasco Laboratories (Prasco) today announced that Prasco and Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Sunovion) will immediately begin distributing an Authorized Generic of Sunovion’s XOPENEX® (levalbuterol HCl) Inhalation Solution. The Authorized Generic will be sold in 1.25 mg/3 mL, 0.63 mg/3 mL and 0.31 mg/3 mL strengths under the Prasco label in the U.S.
“We are especially excited to welcome Sunovion, a leader in treatment of respiratory disorders, to our Prasco family of partners,” said Christopher Arington, Chief Executive Officer of Prasco. “Through this Authorized Generic, patients currently using XOPENEX (zo-pen-eks) Inhalation Solution now have options to discuss with their healthcare professionals of remaining on the branded product or changing to the Authorized Generic version of XOPENEX Inhalation Solution, as part of their ongoing treatment regimen.”
As the leader in the Authorized Generics business, Prasco has now brought over 40 Authorized Generics to market, more than any other company in the United States. Leading companies work with Prasco to bring their branded products to the generic marketplace as Authorized Generics, which offer alternatives to physicians, patients and pharmacists.
The Authorized Generic, Levalbuterol HCl Inhalation Solution, is identical and substitutable for the brand XOPENEX Inhalation Solution. XOPENEX Inhalation Solution is used to treat or prevent narrowing of airways (bronchospasm) in patients 6 years of age and older with reversible obstructive airway disease.
